Rev. Dr. Christopher Ponnuraj

Rev. Dr. Christopher Ponnuraj is an ordained minister of The Church of South India, Karnataka Central Diocese, Bangalore, moved to United States of America with his family in November of 1994. 

Rev. Dr. Christopher began his service to our Lord and Savior as an Associate Pastor of The Christhava Tamil Koil and was Minister of New Church plant at Baltimore till end of 1996. During this time he pursued the Clinical Pastoral Education for three years to work as Chaplin in the Hospitals and Nursing Homes. In 1997 he accepted the call to be a Resident pastor of the Bedford Park Congregational Church in the Bronx, New York. In May of 2003 he received the Doctor of Ministry from the New York Theological Seminary. During the same year Rev. Dr. Christopher was elected to the office of Registrar of the United Church of Christ’s Metropolitan Association of the New York Conference.

His wife Vatsala supports him in his ministry and she is also a good preacher. His son Youngren is a graduate student at The City College of New York. His brother in law Gnanaprabhu is an In-Care candidate for ministry with the Metropolitan Association of New York Conference.
